School celebrates 50 years of Redditch new town

PUPILS and staff from St Thomas More Catholic First School celebrated 50 years of Redditch new town on Friday, June 13.

Everyone dressed up in 1960s clothes and a  tree was planted in the school grounds by four generations of the Wilson/Hicks family.  50 balloons were also released while the children made a giant number 50 on the school field.

Members of the teaching staff’s families came into school and talked to the children about Redditch before the new town was developed.

In the afternoon the new reception children’s playground was officially opened and a street party was held.
