REDDITCH'S pantomime producer, Jordan Productions, has announced that the headline star in this year’s production of Cinderella at the Palace Theatre is Anne Charleston.

Anne will join the cast of this year’s panto in the role of the Fairy Godmother.

Anne is best known to TV audiences for her long running role as Madge Bishop in the Australian soap Neighbours.

On-screen Madge was a formidable battle-axe in the soap who took little nonsense from anyone, however Anne promises to bring some of her Australian magic to the role of the Fairy Godmother – ensuring that Cinders gets to the ball and meets her Prince Charming.

Anne worked for many years on the hit soap and acted alongside a relatively unknown Kylie Minogue who played her daughter Charlene, and Jason Donavon who played Scott Robinson – the two youngsters destined to fall in love and get married in one of the soaps most famous episodes.

Anne will be supported by a number of leading West End actors including Scott Cripps as Buttons (Jesus Christ Superstar) and Sammi Kelly (Singing in the Rain) – and of course those ugliest of sisters who will be played by Richard Pocock and Dereck Walker.

Left at home to clean Hardup Hall, Cinders can not go to the ball. However, with the help of her Fairy Gopdmother and brilliant buffoonery from Buttons, the most exciting night of her life is about to be begin.

A spokesman from The Palace Theatre said: "We are offering you a show jam-packed with all the essential pantomime ingredients plus top-class live music, a fabulous cast, dazzling sets and a timeless tale of laughter, magic and true love."

Full professional supporting cast details will be announced very soon.

Cinderella runs at the Palace Theatre from December 8 to January 4.
