AFTER a colleague was diagnosed with cancer, staff from Thomas Horton LLP solicitors in Bromsgrove set out to walk 15 miles from Bromsgrove to Worcester to raise money of Macmillan nurses.

More than 30 people took part in the walk including staff, as well as their friends and family, starting out from Bromsgrove Railway Station before heading off to the canal towpath down to the company’s offices in Worcester.

The walkers managed to raise over £1,000 for the Macmillan Nurses Centre based at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

Tina Circus, Head of wills, trusts and probate at the firm, organized the walk.

She said: “During the last few months we’ve all been touched by the strength of a close colleague who is fighting cancer. We decided between us that we wanted to both recognise her strength and determination as well as raise funds for the local Macmillan Nurses centre, based at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, which is giving her so much support.

“The sponsored walk was a great way to include as many people as possible in a significant but enjoyable challenge. The weather was glorious on the day and we were all supported by friends and family of all ages, as well as a few canine comrades

“We’re delighted to have raised a fantastic £1300 for Macmillan nurses to help them to continue the exceptional work that they do.”
