THE Webheath First School Academy Friends Association is organising an afternoon of vintage fun at the school summer fair and tea party on Saturday, June 28 from 12.30pm until 4pm.

The friends are a group of volunteers who organise different events to raise money to fund new things for the school.

In 2013, members had raised more than £6,000 to purchase 15 new computer netbooks and in the past they funded outside play equipment and new books that benefit all the children at the school.

This year they have already given the school £4,000 towards an amazing new learning garden that will help the children learn in new and exciting ways.  The money raised at the fair will also go towards the learning garden.

Attractions at the fair include a vintage steam traction engine, pony rides, the teachers are getting a soaking in the stocks, lots of vintage games, a big raffle with amazing prizes and the school choir will be showcasing some songs and getting everyone involved in some country dancing. Visitors can bring their own picnics or get refreshments at the fair, including cream teas and ice creams.

A spokesman said: "We work in partnership with the school and cannot put on these events without the generous support of the volunteers, but also just as important are the parents and carers who donate items towards the events and come along and support them.

"We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supports us and helps make a positive difference to the lives of our children at school."
