HUNDREDS of residents recently turned out to celebrate the 30th anniversary of St Andrews Methodist Church.
The church, situated in Church Hill south, held a garden fate embracing the local and surrounding communities.
The event was officially opened by Redditch councillor and mayor Pat Witherspoon and the Rev Stephen Levett thanked the huge turnout for their community spirit and reminisced how Church Hill had changed over the years, outlining the demise of the old shopping centre, the creation of its replacement and the current housing development on the old centre site.
An entourage of pupils and teachers from neighbouring Church Hill Middle School put on a very animated selection of songs to entertain the crowd.
Mayor Pat Witherspoon spoke to and thanked one pupil, Kai Masters, as he not only sang but was the fourth generation of the Masters family who have lived and supported the Church Hill community.
Local charities and businesses were in attendance as well as tombolas, games, BBQ and numerous other stands aided and run by and for the community.
