ALCESTER’S MP Nadhim Zahawi is encouraging the people of Alcester and the surrounding area to nominate local inspirational young people for the 2014 British Red Cross Humanitarian Citizen Award.

He said: “Every day young people do extraordinary things to help people in their communities, and their contributions deserve to be recognised and celebrated.

“Too often these selfless acts go unsung, so I am encouraging my constituents to nominate a young person or group who they feel go above and beyond to help and support others in their local community.”

Young people are eligible for the award, for their work in one of four categories, from first aid, volunteering, and community action to fundraising.

Nominations for the award can be submitted at www.redcross.org.uk/theaward and are open until Sunday, July 27, 2014.

The awards will be announced in November at the House of Commons.
