A BIGGER, better Green Fair for all the family is coming to Redditch this summer with a brand new main event featuring a contest between local cadet groups.

In a series of challenges set for each other, Army, Navy, Air Force and Fire Service cadet corps will compete in the main arena for a special ‘Lions’ trophy after event organisers Redditch Council teamed up with Redditch Lions Club.

Pony rides, face painting, local and woodland crafts, circus skills, laser clay shooting, reptiles and music and dancers are just a few of the activities set to return for the 13th Green Fair, which is free to enter.

An inflatable assault course run by the Army will also feature, along with rare classic and new cars.

The usual local crafts, unusual gifts, community stalls and food and refreshments will also be available.

Redditch councillor Phil Mould, who is responsible for leisure and tourism, said: “The Green Fair is getting bigger and better and by working together with the lions it promises to be an exciting year.

“This event will generate a lot of competition between the individual teams - and the pride and honour of winning the Lions trophy. This year’s Green Fair is being billed as another family fun extravaganza and I’m sure it will be a good day out.”

The fair will take place in Arrow Valley Park on Battens Drive, on Sunday, June 29, from 11am until 5pm with free parking on site.

President of the Redditch Lions Club, Victor Johnson, added: “Redditch Lions is pleased to join up with the Green Fair and introduce our new Cadet Challenge which we hope will become an exciting annual event."
