HELP for Heroes armed services charity hopes to raise thousands of pounds in Malvern this summer with a packed diary of fund raising events and area co-ordinator Tim Kidwell is looking forward to a busy few months.

“Our charity mascot Hero the Bear will be at the Royal Three Counties Show this weekend and will be manning stand 141 where visitors will be able to pick up some Help for Hero bargains,” said Mr Kidwell. "The people of Malvern are great supporters of our charity and we look forward to seeing them all.”

On Saturday, June 21, Worcestershire Golf Club stages a special Help for Heroes competition and members will be donating their entry fees, while a week later, on June 28, Hero the Bear is back in Malvern for the Armed Forces Day at Victoria Park in Malvern Link. QinetiQ Families Day is on Saturday, July 5 and Hero will be at the St Andrews Road site from 12 noon.

On Saturday, July 26, Malvern Help for Heroes is holding a special First World War commemorative dinner at Worcestershire Golf Club at Malvern Wells where speakers will include West Worcestershire MP Harriet Baldwin.

To round off the summer fund raisers, there will be the Malvern Hills walking challenge on Saturday, September 13. Hero the Bear makes a return to share the barbecue and help present prizes for those completing the nine and four mile challenge.
