A WOMAN is being questioned by police after being arrested in connection with three sneak-in burglaries in Redditch which happened yesterday, Thursday, June 5.

All of them were in the Winyates area and two of them happened at Petton Close between 5pm and 5.30pm.

A woman sneaked into both properties through insecure doors. In one of the incidents the intruder was confronted inside the house and left and at the other house a man grabbed back his wife’s handbag from a woman after spotting her leaving the property. However he was unable to detain her.

Earlier at around 4.15pm in Cardington Close a woman ran off when she was disturbed by a householder after sneaking in and stealing a rucksack and an Xbox controller.

Police conducted a search in the area and later arrested a woman in Winyates on suspicion of burglary. She is currently being held at Kidderminster Police Station where she is helping officers with their inquiries.

Detective Inspector John Cashion of North Worcestershire CID said: “Sneak-ins account for a large proportion of burglaries and in each of these incidents entry was gained through insecure doors while the householders were home.

"This should serve as a reminder to people to lock doors and windows and not leave valuable property lying around on view for an opportunist thief to grab and go.”

Anyone with information for the police can contact officers in the burglary team at Redditch Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Details may also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
