IT was the fourth annual charity pram race in Alcester recently, with competitors dressing up as everything from can-can girls to the 118 118 characters, and a hunting party.
The participants dashed around the streets and pubs of Alcester with their uniquely constructed prams raising money for two local causes, the Alcester War Memorial Town Hall, and Alcester Children’s Activities.
Racers took part in a pre-race warm up with help from Redditch-based fitness instructors Outdoor Physical Training, before they were sent on their way by town crier Dave Parkes, raising more than £300 overall.
For the second year running the winning team were Skid Marcs, with Alcester Scouts coming in a close second in a bid to raise money for a trip to Japan for next year’s jamboree.
The prize for best fancy dress was awarded to the Royal Oak’s fox hunt team, who also took first prize for the heaviest baby.
