REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley has helped raise more than £3,500 for charity by taking part in a bungee jump.

The jump, the world's biggest bungee standing 200ft tall, was part of a special fundraising event arranged by The Lucie Southall Leukaemia Fund in Redditch to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, a charity which has helped many local families in the area by providing accommodation for them while their children are in Birmingham Childrens’ Hospital, dealing with some serious conditions.

The MP said: "I am still aching and I can't promise that I will be repeating it in a hurry but all in all the jump was great fun and I'm really glad I did it. The charity is one really close to my heart and I am pleased that so many people sponsored me.

"My target before I started fundraising was £1,000 so I'm delighted to have raised so much more.

"Some people have been extremely generous and I will be thanking them personally over the coming days."

Clare Holder, from the Lucie Southall Leukaemia Fund, said: "The whole day was a huge success, even the rain didn't keep the crowds away.

"We are still counting all the sponsor money but the figure is going to be around £3,500 plus, which is truly incredible.

"The Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham will be totally shocked by the huge amount of money raised for the."
