INFORMATION  is being sought by police about an assault on a motorcyclist in Redditch.

The 30-year-old victim was riding his motorcycle along Willow Way at about 1.10pm on Thursday, May 22 when a green Honda car pulled out from behind a bus, blocking the victim’s way and leaving him nowhere to move to.

The victim raised the palm of his hand asking the driver of the vehicle to wait, to which the driver of the vehicle made an offensive gesture.

The victim lifted his helmet visor and approached the open driver’s side window of the vehicle to speak with the driver. The driver, sitting in the vehicle, swore and spat in his face.

The victim then reached into the vehicle to grab the keys of the vehicle in order to stop the driver leaving while he contacted the police, at which point the driver punched him in the mouth and drove away with the victim still holding the keys causing the immobiliser fob to break.

The driver is described as a white man in his mid 40s, of medium build with short light coloured hair and facial stubble.

The victim sustained pain and bleeding to his lip.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward if they saw anything of the altercation.

The incident happened in a residential area and there were passengers on the bus at the time, as well as other vehicles in the vicinity.

Anybody who witnessed the incident is asked to contact PC Phil Shadwell on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime 22DE/31946Y/14 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
