THE importance of voluntary work is being highlighted during national Volunteers Week, from June 1-7.

Among those who are being praised during the week are the volunteers from Saltways, a Leonard Cheshire Disability home in Redditch, with nursing care for adults aged 18 to 65 with physical disabilities

A spokesman said: "Volunteers Week seems a good time to highlight the marvellous work of Saltways volunteers.

"Aged from 16 to their 60s, they really make a difference to residents’ quality of life by driving, running craft and games activities, reading, chatting, using computer skills, gardening and lots more."
