A BROMSGROVE based hospice is receiving a fundraising boost from a team taking on a challenging rally this week.

Mark and Donna Farrow, along with Ashley and Laura Almquest, are taking part in the Monte Carlo or Bust 2014 Banger Rally, which starts tomorrow, June 5.

The challenge is to purchase a car for less than £250 and decorate it in a particular style.

The team has purchased a Renault Espace, and chosen a 50s Rock and Roll theme.

Members will be driving through seven countries in three days, beginning in Belgium, then passing through Luxemburg then into Germany for a night in the Black Forest.

They then move on to Italy, for a night in Lake Como, and finish in Monte Carlo for a lap of the famous F1 circuit, and a stay in Nice.

The team are doing the challenge for Mark's 40th birthday, and have chosen to raise money for the Primrose Hospice.

The hospice, based in St Godwald's Road, supports people in Bromsgrove and Redditch who are facing an end of life situation, and also their families.

As part of the fundraising challenge, a collection was held outside ASDA supermarket in Bromsgrove on May 18.

The team has also held cakes sales, and obtained sponsors to raise additional funds.
