AN appeal has been launched to raise funds for a new wheelchair accessible minibus for the children of The Vale of Evesham School.

The school, in Evesham, caters for children with a variety of disabilities and additional needs, both mental and physical, including many from Redditch.

Recently there has been an increase in wheelchair-bound children attending and the current school's minibus with wheelchair adaption does not sufficiently cover demand. This is coupled with the other school's minibus being very dated and soon to be taken off the road.

The appeal has been set up, with the support of the school, by parent Sarah Harman, whose youngest son attends the school.

Several fundraising event are planned, the first being an event at Survival Running Ltd, in Church Lench on Saturday, June 28 from noon until 6pm.

' Lazy RUNdezvous' will be a sponsored run where anyone can walk, jog or run any amount of laps of the 800m off road athletics track.

Robbie Harris, of Survival Running Events and Fitness Lab in Inkberrow, has taken on the challenge of completing 52 laps of the course, or 26 miles, to raise money for the fund.

Also at the event will be a range of fun retro sports. There will be a licensed bar and refreshments and people are invited to bring a picnic along.

Live music entertainment will be provided in the afternoon by talented local artist Tom Forbes.
