STYLISH spectacle wearers are the focus of an event taking place at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, Redditch, on Saturday, May 31.

Redditch Specsavers is seeking the local Spectacle Wearer of the Year (SWOTY) and has teamed up with The Body Shop to offer mini make-overs to people who'd like to enter.  Once they’re looking their best, entrants can have two photos taken for free at the Kingfisher's Max Spielman store.

The Redditch store is running the event to coincide with the Kingfisher Shopping Centre’s ladies’ fashion day, although both men and women are welcome to take part.

The winner of the Redditch SWOTY will win a pair of designer glasses up to the value of £125, including single vision lenses.

Store director Ian Bowers said: "We know Redditch people look good in glasses so we decided to host an event to celebrate specs wearers of all ages. Everyone who takes part will get a free make-over and a photograph to keep. Our stand will be in the centre of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Saturday, May 31, so come along and model your specs or try on our range of frames."

Glamorous glasses wearers are also encouraged to enter the national Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition, with the chance to win £10,000 in cash and a dream holiday to the Bahamas.  The winner will be presented with their prize at a star-studded awards event hosted by Gok Wan in London later this year.  Specsavers will donate £1 to Kidscape for every entry.

Spec wearers can enter at specsavers.co.uk/loveglasses, via facebook.com/specsavers, or at their nearest Specsavers store.
