SPONSORSHIP is being requested for this year's Wootton Wawen music festival.
Leading Solihull musician Alwyn Green joins a programme featuring Warwick-based Armonico Consort and other national and international performers at St Peter's Church for Wootton Wawen's 2014 music festival to be held from June 9 to 14.
John Lawton, secretary to the Wagen Trust which organises the music festival said: "We aim to provide a musical feast, but good quality concerts are costly. We seek sponsorship from businesses and individuals. Any profits enable the trust to extend its funding for projects to help the church and support the local community."
Distilling the works of home composers like Walton, Bridges and Vaughan Williams into four concerts, the festival ranges from Elgar to Greensleeves and madrigals to modern musicals, enhanced by the ninth century church's remarkably fine acoustics.
Alwyn Green, bass trombonist with the celebrated City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, will conduct a select group of instrumentalists from the orchestra playing as the Berkley Salon Ensemble on the final night, when palm court style music will contrast with marching songs marking this year's centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Tickets cost £15 each via Pat Phillips on 01564 793114 or by emailing patphh@btinternet.com.
