POLICE want help from the public to trace a man who assaulted a woman on a footpath in Winyates, Redditch on Tuesday, May 6.

It happened between 10.30pm and 10.40pm on a path between the Winyates Way bus route near Oxleasow Road, close to the Blue Earth Foods factory.

A 25-year-old woman who was walking along the bus route became concerned when she noticed that a man in front of her kept looking back at her. The man turned onto a footpath which runs parallel with the bus route then appeared in front of her and grabbed one of her arms. She broke free and ran from the scene.

The offender is a white man who is described as aged 25-30, around 5ft 6ins tall with short dark hair and a spotty face. He was wearing a black cardigan, pale blue jeans and white trainers.

Detective Sergeant Justin Taylor said: “The woman was quite shaken. We are gathering CCTV footage in the area as part of our investigation but really need help from people to identify the man responsible.

“He may well live in that area so if anyone either saw him around there last night or thinks they recognise who he is from the description then please don’t think twice about coming forward and letting us know. It is important that he is caught as soon as possible.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call detectives at Redditch Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the incident reference 793-S-060514.
