THE annual Bluebell Walk in Wootton Wawen is about to take place with an added poignancy this year.

The walk is back after a two-year break following the death of Farmer John Haimes, who owned and managed Austy Woods at Yew Tree Farm with his son Simon.

It was always the highlight of Mr Haime's year to open up the woods and raise thousands of pounds for different charities throughout the 25 years since it started.

This year the rest of the family are pulling together in order for the Bluebell Walk to continue, with some of the proceeds going to First Responders, people who attend emergencies in their area quickly, some of whom came out within minutes on the day Mr Haime's died.

Participants can turn up anytime between 10am and 4pm and follow a trail through the woods. The walk is about two miles long, taking visitors through the most spectacular and probably the largest area of bluebells in Warwickshire.

After the walk back to Yew Tree Farm, walkers can enjoy a hog roast or tasty treats in Yew Tree Farm Shop or The Cow Shed restaurant.

The walk will take place on May 4 and 5 and entrance is £5 for adults while kids go free and dogs are welcome on a lead.
