Put down the remote and go power walking in Redditch
4:30pm Wednesday 23rd April 2014 in News
RESIDENTS are being encouraged to put down the remote, put on their trainers and get more active with a new power walking club.
After the Couch to 5K scheme earlier in the year, Redditch Council received feedback to suggest that residents wanted a new club to help them get active.
The sessions are due to start at 10am on Saturday, May 17 at Morton Stanley Park and will run on a weekly basis.
John Godwin, head of leisure and cultural services, said: “Our Couch to 5K sessions have been a great success but we know that for whatever reason, running is not for everybody.
"We hope to capture the motivation of the people who want to get more active with this new club and help them achieve their goals.”
Sessions cost £2.50 to attend and will be taken by a fully qualified instructor.
