BRILLIANT banana bread, charming cheesecake and lovely lemon loaf are just some of the goodies whisked up at Bidford Primary School's Cookery Club.

The club, which has been running for four years, has so many children wanting to take part that pupils are split into groups and take part in six weekly rotations.

All of the ingredients for the club are kindly donated by Warner’s Budgens in Bidford and in preparation for the club, pupils visit their local Warner’s Budgens store to select ingredients, and make decisions about cost, environment, local produce and Fairtrade products.

Store owner, Guy Warner, recently attended one of the club sessions to help the children make scones.

"It’s wonderful to see so many children wanting to learn about food, where it comes from and how to use it in everyday recipes," he said.

"Being able to cook confidently is an important life skill and this Cookery Club could really help to inspire our chefs of the future."

All of the recipes from the club can be found on the school’s website at bidfordonavon.warwickshire.sch.uk/meals.htm#cookery.
