TO celebrate the achievements of its former students and recognise the contribution they invest in the local community, Alcester Academy is creating an alumni association.

Helen Black, enterprise education co-ordinator at the academy, said that a number of former pupils and staff have already shown an interest and the school would like to hear what kind of networks former pupils would like to be used.

"We will be offering the opportunity not only to catch up with old friends, but also to hear about the current progress of the academy and to find out how you can support and guide the education of our current students.”

Head teacher Paul Hyde has welcomed the opportunity to build closer links with the community:

"I believe the alumni association presents a fantastic opportunity to share further the successes that you have achieved, as well as showing support for the academy today.”

The inaugural drop-in meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 9 from 6-8pm.

Anyone who has ever attended a school, whether it was Greville High School, Bidford High School, Alcester High School, Alcester High School Technology College or Alcester Academy, is welcome.
