PARENTS in Alcester are being urged to use a council messaging service to keep them up-to-date about an upcoming national teaching strike taking place later this month.

The NUT (National Union for Teachers) will be holding the strike on Wednesday March 26 following a dispute over pay, pensions and conditions and schools in the town could be closed.

Warwickshire County Council has advised parents in Alcester who want to find out about the latest closures to sign up to the council’s school closure service.

The service will automatically issue a text message when a child’s school closes and up to three schools can be selected by each user.

To sign up, text SCHCLOSURES, followed by the schools’s DfE number and On to 07950 081082.

To find out your child's school DfE number either speak to the school or go to warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures.

This service will also inform parents whenever a subscribed school has to close, for instance, as the result of bad weather.
