A SPECIAL event to show the residents of Alcester the societies and clubs they can join in the town has taken place at Alcester Town Hall.
Organised by the Court Leet, the town's first Organisation Day gave a platform for groups such as Alcester Musical Theatre Company, Warwickshire and West Midlands Army Cadets and Alcester and District Local History Society to invite new members to the fold.
Alcester Mayor Mark Cargill said that it was a great way to let people know about the great opportunities available to them, especially those from new housing developments in the area who don't know the town well.
"Alcester is very welcoming community and we are always keen to see new blood," said Mayor Cargill.
"This is the first time we have done it but it was a successful day and we are planning to do another one. These are the organisations that define Alcester."
