AN event is being held in Studley to raise money for a charity which supports and advises people with a very rare genetic condition.
A table top sale will be held to raise money for EDS UK, which helps people with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
This is a rare inherited condition which disrupts the integrity of structural proteins in skin, ligaments, cartilage and blood vessels.
The fundraising event, which is being held at Studley Parish Centre, on Saturday, April 19, from noon-3pm, is being organised by Lucy Gardner, aged 19, who has the syndrome herself. Despite having a metal heart valve, metal in her hip, and being in a wheelchair, Miss Gardner said she has one of the "lesser" forms of EDS.
As well as the table top sale, there will also be raffle, with prizes including vouchers from local businesses, and tea and cakes.
Money raised at the event will be split between EDS UK, and the Where Next Association, another charity close to Miss Gardner's heart.
Anyone who thinks they can help out Miss Gardner and her family at the event, either by running a stall or making a donation, can call 01527 854639.
