POLICE have issued a CCTV image of two people they want to trace as they continue to investigate an unprovoked assault on a man outside a Redditch shop.

The attack happened outside A-Z News in Ipsley Street at about 12.45am on Sunday, February 9, moments after the 36-year-old victim had bought cigarettes from the kiosk there.

He was approached by a male he did not know who punched him in the face. He then fell over and was then kicked and punched by another male while still on the ground. The attackers were part of a group of young men who ran off towards Millsboro Road.

The victim was taken by ambulance to hospital with injuries including a swollen lip, bloody nose and sore forehead.

PC Zowey Marshall, who is investigating, said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked attack and we are determined to catch those responsible for this. We have obtained CCTV footage of two men we would like to trace who may have information which could be very valuable to our investigation.

“We are asking for help to identify these people and would appeal to anyone who recognises them from the photo to contact us immediately. We would also renew our appeal for information from anyone who may know who was involved in this incident.”
