RSPCA searching for owners of cat which might have cancer

THE RSPCA is appealing for the owner of a cat found in Redditch to contact them.

The white cat, named Snowy, was found in a garden in Ash Tree Road on Monday, Tuesday 24 and was collected by the RSPCA after a resident managed to confine her in their summerhouse.

Snowy had been seen in the area for some time, but she had developed a very sore looking ear wound which prompted a resident to contact the RSPCA.

The cat, thought to be aged four to five years old, was collected by RSPCA inspector Mark Lewis and taken to a nearby vet for treatment. It is thought she has ear cancer in her left ear, which had caused the wound.

Inspector Lewis said: “Snowy wasn’t microchipped so we have no idea who she belongs to. Although she had been fed by other people in the area for a while, it may be that she has an owner out there who is missing her.

“We think that Snowy will be fine but she will probably have to have her ear amputated. If no one comes forward to claim her she will then be put forward for rehoming – although we’ll obviously want to make sure she's healthy and recovered first.

“If anyone thinks they know who Snowy belongs to they should contact the RSPCA inspector information line on 0300 123 8018.”

Snowy’s information and photo have also been put on Petslocated.com so people can visit the website for more details.

The RSPCA relies on public donations to carry on helping sick, injured or cruelly treated animals.

Anyone wishing to help can text HELP to 78866 to give £3 (texts cost £3 plus one standard network rate message).
