£25,000 Audi stolen after owner threatened with a screwdriver
10:40am Tuesday 25th February 2014 in News
THE owner of a new Audi A3 had his car stolen from outside his Redditch home after he was confronted by robbers and threatened with a screwdriver.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident at Fenwick Close which happened just before 9pm on Friday, February 21.
The victim was in his house when he heard a bang at the front door and was then confronted by a man with a scarf across his face who was armed with a screwdriver and ordered him to hand over his car keys.
A second robber was also briefly seen before they left the property with two sets of keys.
They failed to take a Renault which was blocked in on the driveway but drove off in the victim’s white Audi A3 S line TDI – registration DL63 ONC.
The car was worth £25,000 and the owner had taken delivery of it only a few days prior to its theft.
It is not known in which direction the robbers left. The one who was armed was white, stocky and wore a dark, hooded top.
Detective Constable Claire Johnson of North Worcestershire CID said: “It appears the robbers broke into the house with the specific intention of stealing the cars, although they were not able to take one of them.
“Although no-one was injured this was a very unpleasant incident and we are urging people to get in touch if they saw these men arriving there on foot, noticed which way the car went afterwards or have any idea who might be involved.
"In particular we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this white Audi A3 since 9pm on Friday or knows where it is now.”
Anyone with information can contact CID officers at Redditch Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the reference 733-S-210214.
