TWO brave women will be cycling hundreds of miles to raise money for bike4cancer.

And as Jo Cumming and Corinne Shakespeare believe they are crazy for taking on this London to Paris cycle challenge, having gone for years without riding a bike, they have named a fundraising event to raise more funds The Wheelie Crazy Bash.

The evening of fun will take place on Saturday, March 22 in Feckenham Village Hall and will feature music from various artists, a close up magician, a raffle, a live auction, a two-course dinner, and there will also be a wine and beer bar.

The women are looking for support for the event, in order to raise as much cash as possible, and need various desserts, 40-plus bottles of wine, cans of larger and beer, big bottles of coke and lemonade, and quality raffle prizes.

They are also looking for volunteers who would be willing to help with the bar or food service on the night.

bike4cancer is a cancer respite charity and exists to ease the burden of living with a cancer diagnosis or a recent bereavement.

The charity recognises that a cancer diagnosis affects the whole family unit and not just the patient. Consequently, its respite programmes focus on not just the cancer patient, but their immediate family as well.

Mrs Cumming, who lives in Redditch with her husband and three young children, said: "After losing my mum to cancer three years ago I wanted to do something to help others in a similar situation. It's hard to explain to someone just how hard it is to watch a loved one suffer this disease, especially at the final stages.

"This is why Corinne and I chose this particular charity - we want to help families living with cancer to really benefit from care and support."

For tickets costing £15, including food and entertainment, to make a donation to the event, or help out on the night, call Mrs Cumming on 07814 414288 or email jo@cybacat.com.
