THE town’s football club has become the latest location in Alcester to receive an external defibrillator, after recent fundraising efforts by Alcester Heartsafe.

While Alcester Grammar School already had a defibrillator fitted, the organisation has raised money to install defibrillators in the outside of all the town’s other school buildings, as well as installing one in the high street.

Alcester Town football Club recently raised £900 with an Elvis tribute night, and the defibrillator was donated in appreciation of its fundraising efforts. Members also teamed up to raise their own funds for a cabinet, so that it can be placed on the outside of the building and available for public use 24 hours a day.

Ann Delany of Alcester Heartsafe campaign, said: “This is the seventh device supplied to the town. All five schools have their own devices and there is a further public-access device in Alcester High Street. It is hoped that we will shortly be able to provide a further device for Alcester Rugby Club.”

Anyone who wants to make a donation to Alcester Heartsafe, can do so by contacting Ann Delany on 07857 558534 or Councillor Alison Brown on 07763 492821.

The town’s defibrillators have all been supplied by the charity Arrhythmia Alliance. For more information on its work write to Caroline Holmes at caroline@heartrhythmcharity.org.uk or visit heartrhythmcharity.org.uk.
