ONE of the Midlands’ favourite and most acclaimed entertainers will be coming to Redditch's Palace Theatre for not one, but two nights.

Malcolm Stent is a true Brummie and has been performing professionally and making audiences laugh for more than 30 years.

He is a comedian, singer, actor, radio presenter, after-dinner speaker, author and playwright.

His plays Go And Play Up Your Own End, Go And Play Further, and A League Apart, have been staged around the Midlands for a number of years.

Malcolm Stent’s Songs of Praise is his hugely popular show with the Salvation Army Band.

He started his career with pop band The Timoneers who enjoyed huge popularity during the 60s as they went from village halls to radio and TV with their unique blend of music and humour.

He is also well known as the man who took over from Jasper Carrott as resident host at the now legendary Boggery Folk Club.

Talking about his comedy and live shows he says his slogan is “clean comedy for grown-ups” but his material also appeals to younger audiences.

As Malcolm said in a recent interview “nothing thrills me more than having four generations of the same family laughing together at a joke".

He will be returning to the Room Upstairs at the Palace with a spring in his step as he sings and plays guitar and tells his jokes and stories about the Birmingham he grew up in.

A theatre spokesman said "He's proud of his native city and though times and places may have changed, that great Brummie spirit and its unique brand of humour survive intact.

"It’s an evening of great entertainment and fun not to be missed. Malcolm’s show will send you home with your toes tapping and a huge grin on your face."

The shows, packed full of song and laughter, are on Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8 starting at 7.45pm.

Tickets are available in person or at the box office on 01527 65203 priced £14 (inclusive of booking fee 75p per seat up to a maximum £3).
