NATURE loving children are invited to head to Studley Garden Centre which offering an unusual activity to keep the whole family busy, and support local wildlife, during half term week.

The Henley Road-based centre, will be encouraging children to help wild birds flourish by taking part in a fun nest box painting event.

The event, which coincides with National Nest Box Week, will see children make and decorate a wooden nest box using a nest box kit and paints, creating a beautiful new home for birds in the area.  They can then take their creation home to put up in their own garden, ready to watch the local wildlife it attracts.

People can take part from Monday, February 17 until Friday, February 21, from 11am until 3pm.

Nest box painting costs £4, which includes a donation of 50p to Garden Re-Leaf Day, the nest box and use of all materials. Tickets for the nest box event will be available from the tills on the day.

Garden Re-Leaf Day’s nominated charity for 2014 is the Greenfingers ‘Rosy Cheeks Appeal’ which aims to raise £750,000 over two years to fund the creation of at least 10 unique children’s hospice gardens - giving more families the gift of spending precious time together outdoors, away from the bedside.

Other attractions at Studley Garden Centre during half term include a fair ride, hook-a-duck fair game, and a candy floss stall. There is also a bouncy castle on-site every day which is free of charge.

As with all our events children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Studley Garden Centre will be planning more events throughout the year, so keep an eye on the website for more details.  For more information, see studleygardencentre.co.uk.
