STUDLEY-based comedian Freddie Starr has been arrested for a fourth time by officers investigating alleged sex offences.

Starr, 70, was first arrested in November 2012 as part of Operation Yewtree, an inquiry set up following the Jimmy Savile abuse scandal.

Since then he has been re-arrested three times under a strand of the operation unrelated to Savile.

He was arrested on Wednesday, February 12 after returning to a police station to answer bail. He was later re-bailed until April.

Operation Yewtree is an inquiry into historical allegations of sexual abuse linked to the entertainment industry.

The entertainer has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation.
