ONE of the biggest recording stars that Britain has ever produced will be coming to Redditch.

Billy Ocean has sold more than 30 million records in his lifetime and he’ll be playing at the town’s Palace Theatre at the end of May.

His reggae infused soulful voice is as strong and distinctive now as it was when he struck worldwide success in the 1970s.

His two top 20 singles, Love On Delivery and Stop Me Then Red Light Spells Danger, became a smash in both the UK and US.

He also had hits including the number one single Caribbean Queen (for which Billy won a Grammy for best R&B Vocal) followed by Loverboy, and then Suddenly became the first of the talented singer's many ballads.

Get Outta my Dreams; Get into my car (US number 1) the album from which these singles came from spent a year in the US Charts selling double platinum (triple in Canada).

His new 2013 album, Here You Are, is 10 tracks which have influenced Billy over his musical career including well known classics such as No Woman, No Cry by the legend Bob Marley, You Send Me by Otis Reading and It Was A Very Good Year by Frank Sinatra.

Here You Are, the title track, was written by Billy to reflect the influences of the music that has inspired him throughout his life.

This unmissable concert is on Friday, May 30 starting at 7.30pm.
