A MEETING took place last night between police, parents, county council representatives and senior nursery staff at Bright Kids Nursery following the arrest of a staff member at the Crabbs Cross branch earlier this week.

A spokesman said Detective Inspector Dean Jones, who is leading the investigation, reassured parents with children at the nursery that West Mercia Police has no concerns for the safeguarding of their children and that no children are at risk.

Nursery owner Tricia Wellings and other senior staff answered questions and parents were reassured that their children are safe and well cared for.

Parents were also assured that they would be kept informed of the outcome of the police investigation and any subsequent action.

The owner also took the opportunity to reinforce the nursery’s support of the police investigation.

In a statement released following the arrest, she said: “We are fully supportive of the police investigation and we would like to reassure parents that our main concern is for the welfare of all the children in our care and that we have strict safeguarding procedures in place.

“We cannot comment further about the investigation, but If any parents have any concerns please contact the nursery management on 01527 452430 at any time or call the police non-emergency number 101.”
