FOLLOWING the arrest of a staff member at the Crabbs Cross branch of Bright Kids nursery, the nursery has released a statement.

The employee was arrested yesterday Tuesday, February 4, after police were contacted by a parent on Monday, and has now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Superintendent Steve Cullen said that the inquiry is at a very early stage and more details are being obtained.

He also said that the arrest is not linked to the ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual abuse at Bright Eyes Nurseries, which had branches at Bromsgrove, Redditch and Droitwich.

The statement from the nursery reads: "We can confirm West Mercia Police has arrested a member of staff at the Crabbs Cross branch of Bright Kids nursery.

"We are fully supportive of the police investigation and we would like to reassure parents that our main concern is for the welfare of all the children in our care and we have strict safeguarding procedures in place.

"The police have said that given the actions that have already been undertaken, that they have no ongoing concerns for the safeguarding of the children and that no children are at risk.

"We cannot comment further about the investigation, but If any parents have any concerns please contact the nursery management on 01527 452430 at any time or call the police non-emergency number 101.

"A parents meeting has been arranged for parents whose children attend the nursery at 6pm Thursday when the police and senior staff will be in attendance."
