WORK on the development of the entertainment section of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre is going from strength to strength.

Redditch MP Karen Lumley recently met Ken Williams, general manager of the Kingfisher Centre to see how the development, known as The Hub, is progressing.

Popular food chain, Nando’s will be one of the new attractions in the centre and has been scheduled to open its doors to hungry customers on Friday, April 4.

This opening will be closely followed by that of Oriental buffet restaurant, Real China, in May along with a further two food outlets scheduled to hopefully open by the summer.

To enhance this section of the centre, Pure Gym and Vue Cinema will be opening their doors until 11.30pm, which will give people more choice on how they wish to socialise, along with being of huge benefit to the town's growing economy and job creation.

In addition to this investment, the Kingfisher Centre owners, Capital and Regional, is in talks to introduce more of the big brand high street shops into the centre.

Plans are also in place to improve the aspect of interior design with a view to introduce more colour and light throughout the centre, which aims to raise the town's profile even further.

Speaking after a tour of the new area, Mrs Lumley said: “Following my meeting with the Kingfisher Shopping Centre's new owners back in 2012, I am delighted to see the progress that is being made to the centre which will benefit the people of Redditch and surrounding areas.

"Redditch has been crying out for this type of investment and I am delighted to see the ideas discussed at our meeting begin to all come together.”

It is hoped the development as a whole will enable Redditch to compete with neighbouring towns and cities for business.
