ALCESTER’S MP Nadhim Zahawi has spoken out after the Government recorded a fall in Warwickshire’s recorded crime of eight per cent.
Mr Zahawi said: “I am delighted that we are seeing crime fall, not just here in Warwickshire but across the country. I'd like to congratulate the police on the fantastic job they do, everyone in Warwickshire Police should be rightly proud of this achievement."
The figures showed the eight per cent drop in crime from September 2012 to September 2013, the most recent month for which figures were available, compared to only a six per cent drop for the country as a whole over the same period.
Recorded robberies in Warwickshire were down by 18 per cent, while recorded burglaries were down by 15 per cent, and recorded public order offences were down by 18 per cent.
The Crime Survey of England and Wales published its figures on the same day, showing a national 10 per cent fall in crime.
