POLICE in Studley are investigating a robbery in which a woman was assaulted as she made her way to the bank.

The incident took place at approximately 1.50pm on Friday, January 17 on Alcester Road, when offenders approached the woman, hitting her over the had with a metal bar, before stealing cash she had been carrying in a hessian bag, and making off in a white van.

The woman was not seriously injured in the attack, but she did suffer bruising to her head and leg resulting in pain and discomfort. She was treated at the scene by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment.

The main offender is described as a black or Asian man. He was wearing a dark blue or black hooded top underneath a dark jacket, and a motorcycle face mask.

There were two or three other men in the white van, which is believed to have been stolen, and was later recovered in Teal Road.

The bag is yet to be recovered.
