A BATCHLEY woman has been fined £3,087.46 for causing a noise nuisance to her neighbours.

On January 17, Vicky Hawthorne, of Evesham Road, was convicted at Redditch Magistrates Court for failing to comply with a noise abatement notice

The case was brought by Worcestershire Regulatory Services, on behalf of Redditch Council, when Ms Hawthorne failed to comply with the noise abatement notice. Officers seized her CD player, speakers, media players and CDs.

The 33-year-old failed to attend court and the case was heard in her absence.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Worcestershire Regulatory Services joint committee chair, said: “The high level of penalty imposed in this case clearly demonstrates how seriously the magistrates considered this problem.

“Worcestershire Regulatory Services take noise complaints very seriously and will continue to crack down on noise complaints in the future."

The fine included costs of £1,367.46, a £120 victim surcharge, and the remaining £1,600 was a financial penalty.

Anyone who is troubled by noise nuisance problems is asked to contact Worcestershire Regulatory services on 01905 822799.
