A FINGERPRING on an electric light socket led to the arrest of a Redditch burglar, Worcester Crown Court was told.
Jake Hands had broken into the detached garage in Merevale Close in May last year, said prosecutor Tim Sapwell. A £800 cycle and two power tools were stolen.
Hands, aged 21, of Astley Close, Redditch, who was arrested a few days later, pleaded guilty, and was given a 14-month jail sentence suspended until September next year.
He also admitted breach of two community order by failing to comply with the regulations. He was said to have five convictions for six previous offences and to have been on a curfew tag for 155 days.
Daniel White, mitigating, said Hands had completed 120 hours unpaid work imposed on previous orders.
Mr Sapwell said Ian Kirwan, the garage owner, called police when he found the door open and the light on.
