THERE’S an opportunity next week for people to find out all about job opportunities, training and volunteering in Alcester.
The learning, volunteering and work event has been organised by Warwickshire County Council Adult and Community Learning at the Jubilee Centre, with representatives lined up from local further education colleges, the job centre, several local employers, Warwickshire VASA, and community organisations including the River Arrow Nature Reserve, the Court Leet, the Alzhiemer’s Cafe and the CAB.
Phyllis Painter, development worker for community learning at Warwickshire County Council has organised the event.
She said: “the idea is to encourage as many people as possible to come along and see what’s on offer. I’m running employability classes in English, maths ITC, and we’re getting some classes in art, dance, and music. Representatives from all three schools will be there, and there’s a chance to win a Kindle.
“It’s worth coming along to see what’s going on in the area, to be entertained, and to see what we can offer. Meet some different groups, find out what courses you’d like to attend, see what the Court Leet do, and what does go on in the town. We’ve got a really diverse selection.”
The day is running from 10am to 6pm on Monday, January 20, at the Jubille Centre off St Faith’s road, and anyone is welcome to attend.
