THE Redditch Self Defence Association is urging people looking for a new year challenge to get in touch.

The non-profit making group, which provides education and training as well as free advice on anti-bullying, is starting a special ladies only self defence class on January 29 from 7pm to 8pm at The Studley Road Club, Redditch.

The cost is £5 per session but discounted and free places are available as the aim is to reach as much of the community as possible.

It also runs classes for men.

Although its founders have a deep rooted history of Martial Arts they do not teach Martial Arts classes.

The emphasis is on recognising signs of potential abuse or attack before it can take place. The main goal is crime prevention.

Self defense techniques are taught but avoidance is always promoted.

A spokesman from the association said: "If you are in fear of, or have been a victim of, violent crime then we can help.

"We will provide a service to all walks of life of all ages and capabilities."
