POLICE are appealing for information about a burglary in Redditch following an attempt to steal a vehicle.

It happened between 5.10pm on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31, and 3.30pm on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, in Birmingham Road.

It is thought the offenders wanted to steal the BMW parked on the drive and smashed a window of the vehicle but were unable to start it. They then broke into the house and took the car key, but were still unable to start it due to it having a flat battery.

As well as the car keys, they stole a laptop, two watches, and a wallet.

One as the watches was an Armani with a silver metal strap and black face and was worth £200, and the other was a fake Breitling with a black plastic strap and silver dial and was worth £100. The HP laptop was old and not in working order. The wallet was handed in to police after being found discarded nearby.

House-to-house inquiries have been carried out and leaflets distributed in the area.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Detective Constable Cheryl Jones at West Mercia Police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 694-s-010114 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
