MEMBERS of the Palace Youth Theatre in Redditch are set to perform a powerful stage version of Lord of the Flies.

William Golding’s celebrated novel, adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams, sees a group of children survive a plane crash on a desert island.

The adventure quickly spirals into a struggle for survival that sees the children descend into tribalism and bloodthirsty barbarity.

Performances are Thursday, January 30 to Saturday, February 1 at 7:30pm with a 2:30pm Saturday matinee.

Tickets are £12.75 and £10.75 concessions, including a booking fee of 75p per ticket up to a maximum of £3, from the box office on 01527 65203.

Redditch Borough Council youth theatre and arts officer Liz Sifford said: “The Palace Youth Theatre groups have been working hard on Lord of the Flies and we’re all expecting another excellent performance in the new year following on from some of 2013’s successes like Wizard of Oz and our Arabian Nights-themed 1001 PYT Nights.

“We’re also expanding this year and so we’re looking for new members. If you want to know more we’d love to see you at our enrolment evening on January 6.”

The youth theatre group is advertising for new members at a special enrolment evening at the Palace Theatre on January 6.

Staff and theatre members will be available from 6pm to 7pm that evening for tea, coffee and even have-a-go sessions of some of their activities.
