TOWNS along the River Avon are still on flood alert in the new year, with alerts in place on the stretch of river approaching Bidford from Rugby, where the gauge measured depths of 2.95 metres this morning, Thursday, January 2, and flooding is possible later in the day.
Over night from New Year’s Day 6mm of rain fell over 12 hours, and more light rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours with another 6mm of water likely to fall.
An alert is also still in place on the Avon from Salford Priors, with a peak level of between 2.4 and 2.5 meters expected this afternoon at the Evesham gauge.
The alert has now been in place since Monday, December 23
