A PUBLIC consultation to gather opinion on proposed changes to Stratford’s electoral boundaries is due to end on Monday, January 6.

Draft recommendations from the Electoral Commission have proposed that Stratford-on-Avon District Council should reduce the number of councillors, from the current 53 to 36, with councillors representing 36 single-member wards.

Members of the public have been asked for their opinion on the proposed changes over the last few months, but now the consultation is nearing an end.

Max Caller, chair of the Electoral Commission, said: “We are keen to hear local views about our boundary proposals before we finalise them in March 2014.

“We want to make sure ward boundaries across Stratford-on-Avon reflect the identities and interests of local communities as well as delivering electoral fairness for voters.

“This is your last chance to have your say before we finalise the recommendations.”
