POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman died when she was in collision with a car on Tuesday, December 17 on the A435 Alcester Road.

The 35-year-old woman was on foot when it happened at about 7pm on the northbound carriageway between the M42 and the Becketts island.

She was involved in a collision with a Seat being driven by a man in his 40s from the Hollywood area.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the Worcestershire Coroner has been informed.

PC Owen Atwell of West Mercia Police said: “This was a tragic incident in which a young woman has lost her life and our thoughts are with her family. An investigation has been launched into the circumstances and we urgently want to hear from anyone who may have been driving on the dual carriageway there at the relevant time who saw what happened or noticed the woman on foot there beforehand.

“Even the smallest detail could be important to us so please get in touch if you saw anything at all that could help our inquiries.

“This is the third death of a pedestrian in North Worcestershire in the space of a week and we would remind people to take extra care while walking alongside or crossing roads during hours of darkness and that equally applies to motorists who need to be aware of other road users.”

Witnesses or anyone with information can call officers at the Operation Patrol Unit at Rubery Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the incident reference 596-S-171213.
