THE 1st Astwood Bank Scout troop recently enjoyed the group outdoors during their winter camp.
This was the last of 17 nights of camping for the Scouts this year, making a total of 151 ‘Scout nights away’ during 2013.
During the camps, Scouts have had the opportunity to cook on open fires, wade through mud, sleep under cardboard, climb trees, sail a coracle and test their navigation skills.
In June, the troop participated in the Malvern Challenge alongside 4,000 other Scouts and Guides and were delighted to bring home a prize for one of the activity bases.
A spokesman said: "Several Scouts have earned badges on camp and we are proud that four members of the troop; William, Will, Reuben and Matt have recently been awarded their Gold Chief Scout’s Award, the highest badge they can earn as a Scout.
"All camps are organised and run by volunteer Scout leaders and we are always looking for more adults to join our leadership team. To find out more please see abscoutgroup.org.uk or contact sally@abscoutgroup.org.uk.
