Volunteer sought for Alcester Library

ALCESTER Library is looking for a local resident willing to help out as a survey volunteer in the town's branch.

The role would involve encouraging customers to take part in surveys which are designed to give feedback to Warwickshire County Council on the library, council and community services, as well helping shape future plans.

The request is part of a call for a variety of volunteer roles across the entire county’s library service.

Imelda Cooke-Cannon, volunteer co-ordinator for Warwickshire Libraries and Information Service, said: “These aren’t roles you might normally associate with a library, we’re looking for all kinds of different people and skills to bring something different to many of our libraries. “We’d love to hear from as many people as possible, who want to offer as much or as little time as they can spare.”

Volunteers sought at other libraries include people to help researching family history, help with publicity and promotions, and help in using computers.

Councillor Colin Hayfield, Warwickshire County Council’s portfolio holder for customers, access and physical assets, added: “The volunteers are being recruited to support special projects within libraries to increase the usage of libraries. This will help them to become even more of a community hub with a variety of opportunities and services being offered by staff and volunteers.”
